December is here and festive holiday designs are in full swing! This is my favourite time of the year and I find myself painting my nails more often than usual to take advantage of different patterns and decorations that Christmas has to offer.

This year I am obsessed with festive jumper designs and you can see a variety of them on my blog. However, if Christmas sweaters are not your ideal festive wardrobe must have, why not feature them on your nails? I know what you’re thinking, these kind of designs surely are complicated and probably take forever to make, but they really don’t have to! I have created a step-by-step tutorial to show you it can be quick and easy to achieve, so let’s get started!

For this design you will need:

• a striping brush
• a dotting tool
• a detail brush
• a selection of Christmas jumper shades of your choice (I chose blue, nude, red and grey)
• a top coat

1. Start with a coat of your favourite base coat followed by two coats of Nails Inc Colville Mews.

2. Using a blue polish (Rimmel Loafer Love For You) and a detail brush, create a half moon design. Alternatively use French tip vinyls to help you create even half moons on all nails.

3. Using the same blue polish and a striping brush paint two curved lines underneath the half moon design. If you make any mistakes correct them using the nude polish.

4. You have now created two nude strips to fill in with any designs you choose. I opted for simple dots. Using a small dotting tool and Barry M Chai and Nails Inc Tate create a line of dots.

TIP: Instead of adding a red dot then a grey one and so on, create a full line of grey dots only. Let them dry for a minute, then add red ones on top of every other grey one. It’s a lot easier to create a curved line this way.

5. On the second nude strip, paint a few hearts. I find it easier to create them in two strokes using a detail brush but you can also try a dotting tool and see what works best for you.

6. Using Barry M Chai and a dotting tool, apply dots on the rest of your nail. Don’t forget to finish your design off with a top coat. I used HK Girl Glisten&Glow.
